Migrate PVE data groups to Papervision.com

If you need to migrate your data from your on-premises PVE environment up to Papervision.com, the following steps will guide you through the process:

Before beginning, make sure the following settings are already set up within PVE:

  • Migration path configured

    • In the PVE admin console, right-click on the entity that has data that needs to be migrated and select “Properties”

    • Verify that a Migration path has been defined. This is where your data will be when selecting to migrate out of PVE

  • Migration Jobs is configured in Automated Service Scheduling

    • Right-click System Settings and select Configure Automation Service Scheduling

    • Verify the Migration Jobs service is configured to run

  • Migration data group type is set to Package Files

    • In the PVE admin console, right-click on the entity that has data that needs to be migrated and select “Properties”

    • Verify under Migration Jobs that the Data Group Packaging option is set to Package Files. This will allow the data groups to be imported into Papervision.com straight from the Digitech FTP location.

Once above settings has been verified, proceed to next steps.

Begin queuing data groups for migration

  1. Within the PVE Admin Console, open Data Storage → Data Groups

  2. Select all data groups that need to be migrated. Right-click and select Submit for Migration

  3. The data groups will be queue for migration and the automation service will begin to migrate out all the data.

    1. Check the Migration Jobs under Global Administration to see status of the migration

  4. Once complete, within a File Explorer, navigate to the migration folder that is defined in the entity properties

  5. You will need the “.pvpkg” file that will be transferred to the Digitech FTP location, followed by the “.SUBMIT” file that kicks off the transfer.

Connect to the FTP using software

  1. Use software such as WinSCP or Filezilla

  2. Connect to Digitech FTP site

    1. File protocol: FTP

    2. Encryption: TLS/SSL Explicit encryption

    3. Host: transfer.Papervision.com

    4. Port#: 21

    5. User Name: Your Papervision.com username followed by _entity# (Example: Test_1234)

    6. Password: Your Papervision.com password

If you are unable to connect, it may be due to your account not having the FTP access enabled.

Log into Papervision.com and access the admin console. Under your user account, verify that your account has the FTP rights applied to it as shown in the screenshot below:

Add data groups to FTP

When connected to the Digitech FTP site, place the PVPKG file first. Once the PVPKG completes, transfer the “.SUBMIT” file for that PVPKG file. The SUBMIT file kicks off the transfer up to Papervision.com.

Note that the first data group may not go through and will need an Papervision.com representative to map it so that future transfers can go through. If assistance is needed, please contact Caso Help Desk clientservices@caso.com

Verify the Data made it up to Papervision.com

The data groups should delete from the FTP, which indicates that they are importing into Papervision.com. Depending on the amount of data, it may take up to 10 minutes.

Log into Papervision.com and verify the data made it successfully. If there are any issues or any questions, please feel free to contact clientservices@caso.com
