Summary

After the Kofax installation is complete, you can install the unattended modules (XML Import Connector, Recognition Server, PDF Generator, OCR Full Text, or Export) as services.  The services can be run on a workstation or a server.

Getting Started

Before starting be sure you're logged in to Windows with administrator rights.  To install the service(s), run the installation from a command prompt on the station/server where you want to run the module as a service as follows:

1. Install on a workstation:

   1. "<Kofax Capture installation folder>\bin\module.exe" -install

2. Install on a server:

   1. "Kofax Capture installation server software folder>\ServLib\Bin\<module.exe>" - install

module.exe is the executable file name for the module you want to install as a service.  The following are available in the Bin folder:

1. acxmlai.exe (XML Import Connector)

2. ocr.exe (OCR Full Text)

3. kfxPdf.exe (Kofax PDF Generator)

4. fp.exe (Recognition Server)

5. release.exe (Export)

6. acirsa.exe (Remote Synchronization Agent (RSA))

If the environment has User profiles feature selected, then the service must be installed with a user ID and password.

1. "Kofax Capture installation folder>\Bin\module.exe" -install -u:"<userID>" -p:"<password>"

Configuring a Kofax Capture Service

After installing the service use the Services Utility to configure a startup type and logon account type.  For the logon account you must specify a Windows user account that is valid for the workstation or server where you intend to run the Kofax service.

1. Start the Windows Services Utility

2. Select the name of the Kofax service to configure

3. Open the properties window

   1. At Startup type, select one of the following:

      1. Automatic

      2. Manual

      3. Disabled

   2. Specify a logon type

      1. Select a valid user account and password

      2. Enter the user account for the workstation where the service is installed.  If the user account is a network user, be sure to use the following format:

         1. <domain>\<accountname>

      3. Enter the password for the account.
