Summary
When trying to sign into OneDrive Desktop Client on a Windows 7 workstation you receive the following error: There was a problem connecting to OneDrive. Check your Internet connection, and then try again. (Error Code: 0x8004de40).
Answer/Solution
Reset Windows Socket (Winsock)
Open Command Prompt Admin
In the Command Prompt, type the following command and hit Enter.
netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset OneDrive
Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
Enter or paste the command:
%localappdata%\\Microsoft\\OneDrive\\onedrive.exe /reset
Download and install Easy Fix Tool.
If OneDrive is opened, close it and re-open the OneDrive application and sign in. The error should be resolved.
