ECMToolbox Workflow Terminology

The following terminology is commonly used on Workflow Environments:

Multi-Doc View

A multi-doc view is a feature in ApplicationXtender that allows multiple indexes to be associated with one document. One set of indexes will have to represent the document for Workflow to understand the document.

Ownership

Ownership is the person who owns a work instance that can initiate actions against the work instance.

Queue

A queue is a collection of rules, actions, and conditions that provide configured behavior to act upon the document for its purpose.

Work Instance

A work instance associates a work item to a queue in the workflow.

Work Item

A work item is a document from the document management system. A work item can be associated to 1 or more work instances at the same time.

Workflow Path

A workflow path is a collection of queues that are dedicated to a specific role or department in a workflow.
