PVE - Configuring Authentication Gateway(PaperVision Auth GW)

This article will guide you through setting up the PaperVision Authentication Gateway. The gateway allows your users to authenticate with their windows account, providing an easy and convenient single sign-on.

Getting Started

You will need to have the PaperVision Authentication Gateway enabled and configured.

To verify, you can follow the next step below or skip.

Requirements

  • Access to the PaperVision Enterprise web server desktop environment.

  • The server is connected to the windows domain.

Check Current Installation

  1. Log onto the server hosting PaperVision Enterprise.

  2. Open the IIS Management console.

  3. Under Sites, locate PaperVision Auth GW site.

  4. If the website does not exist, then authentication gateway is not configured.

Install Authentication Gateway

If you did not have the Authentication Gateway configured during the initial installation or it does not exist in IIS, follow the next steps below before proceeding to configuration.

  1. You’ll need to run the website creation wizard by following PVE - Run Website Creation Wizard article.

    1. Before you proceed, skip the website creation for the PaperVision Website itself and only configure the PaperVision Auth GW site.

  2. Once completed with the wizard, you can move onto configuring the gateway.

Configuring Authentication Gateway

Setup Server Encryption Key

  1. Open the Papervision Admin Console on the server desktop and expand your list of entities.

  2. Expand desired entity and navigate to General Security.

  3. Navigate to Encryption Keys

  4. Click the star icon to create a new encryption key.

  5. Provide a name of the key, pass-phrase(that is your key) and an informative description on what the key is for.

  1. Navigate to Security Policy.

  2. Click Configure Security Policy.

  3. Click Authentication tab.

  4. Select the newly created key.

  5. Click OK

Configure Authentication Gateway

  1. Open your start menu and search for PaperVision Gateway Settings.

  2. Provide the encryption key pass-phrase you’ve created.

  3. Set the redirection URL to the base URL of the PaperVision Enterprise website.

  4. Change the entity ID if you’re targeteting a different entity.

  5. Click “OK”.

Creating Accounts to Authenticate in Gateway

In order for a windows account to automatically authenticate, you must create a new user in the entity with the same exact domain and account name.

  1. Create a new account under the System Users of General Security.

  2. Provide the domain name followed by the username.

  3. Provide the full name and email(optional).

  4. Generate a randomized password string for the account, it will not be needed by the user.

  5. Set the password to never expire and set remaining properties as needed.

  6. Open a web browser and navigate to your Papervision Auth GW website.

  7. You should be redirected to your Papervision Enterprise website and automatically authenticated with your windows account. Congrats!
