License check fails when Scanning Station launched

Problem:

When launching Scanning Station, the user is presented with:

Failed to verify license from server http://AbbyyServerName

Reasons:

  • Possibly the Processing Server is not started.
  • The Application Server's address is not specified in the Processing Server's properties sheet.
  • The address indicated in the properties sheet of the Processing Server differs from the address indicated in the Scanning Station's settings. For example, one address can be an IP address but another can be a machine name.

Solutions:

1. The Processing Server isn’t running.

To launch the Processing Server, click Start > All Programs > ABBYY FlexiCapture 11 Servers > Processing Server Monitor and launch the Processing Server.

2. The Application Server’s address is not specified in the Processing Server’s properties sheet

To check if this is the case, open the Processing Server Monitor (see item 1 above) and use the shortcut menu to open its properties sheet. Check if the Application Server's address is indicated in the Application Server field.

If the Application Server's address is not indicated, enter its address (the address should look like this: http://<server name>) and try launching the scanning station again.

3. The address indicated in the properties sheet of the Processing Server differs from the address indicated in the Scanning Station's settings. For example, one address can be an IP address but another can be a machine name.

If the Application Server's address is indicated in the properties sheet of the Processing Server, check if this is the same address as the one indicated in the Scanning Station's settings (this address will be displayed when you click the OK button on the error message about the license error). If the addresses differ, change them so that they match and launch the Scanning Station again.
