ApplicationXtender - Web Access - View Foreign Files

Foreign files are not rendered in the Web Access Viewer by default. If you wish to display foreign files such as .msg files, word documents and more, follow this guide to update your personal settings to display documents.

Preface

Depending on your IT department’s default preferences for the end user accounts, you may or may not display foreign files in the document viewer by default.

If you do not have the setting enabled, you will be greeted with this message.

Update Your Settings

To see foreign files, let’s confirm you have the setting enabled.

  1. Log into your ApplicationXtender/AppEnhancer environment.

  2. Click your profile name on the top right and click User Settings.

  3. Expand Document View category.

  4. Check “Enable Inline Rendering of Foreign Files”.

  5. Click “Save”.

View Foreign Documents

Now let’s confirm you can see the foreign files. Open a document that has foreign files. For this example, I have an email message that is now rendered in the document viewer after updating my user settings.
