This article briefly explains what Papervision Capture (PVC) index constraints are and how to add them into a PVC job.
Index Constraint Overview
You can use index constraints to verify, populate, or alter index values. Index constraints can be configured to prevent users from saving invalid index values, or replace index values with data from an external source. You can also perform match and merge operations with index constraints in three ways: match one or more indexes and return one or more indexes, match one or more indexes and return a collection of detail sets, and match one or more detail fields and return a collection of detail sets.
Steps to add index constraints to a PVC job
- Open the Papervision Capture Admin Console
- Open the PVC job that needs index constraints added
- Check out the job to allow changes to be made
- With no steps selected, click the ellipsis in the Index Constraints field
- In the index constraint window, click the plus sign at the top-left to add a new index constraint
- Select the index constraint needed and finish the wizard to add the index constraint
- With the index constraint selected, click the Actions button
- Click the Add Job Step button to add a job step for the constraint to be applied to when the index constraint fails
- Select when the constraint will be applied.
- With the job step selected, click the Job Step Actions button
- Here you can select what will happen when the index constraint fails, such as populating a field or adding trailing characters
- After adding, select Apply
- After selecting Apply, double-check that everything looks good or repeat steps 5-12 to add another index constraint
- After all index constraints have been added, be sure to check the PVC job back in to save changes.
