Kofax - Blank Page Not Deleted When Scanning Single Page In Duplex Mode
Applies to
Kofax Capture 10.x and 11.x
Summary
Kofax VRS fails to remove a detected blank page when conducting a duplex scan of a single page with the Blank Page Deletion feature turned on.
Cause
In Single Page Mode, it's presumed that the scanner operator is aware of the content on both sides of the page and will choose simplex or duplex scanning as needed. If duplex is chosen in Single Page Mode, it's assumed that images from both sides are required, or else simplex would have been selected.
On the other hand, Multipage (or Batch) Mode involves more variability—some pages might have content on one side, while others have content on both. Hence, operators scan all pages in duplex to capture all possible data. The Blank Page Deletion function in Kofax VRS is specifically developed for such scenarios. It assesses every image from the scanner and discards any identified as blank.
Given these assumptions in Single Page Mode, Kofax VRS will recognize, but not delete, blank pages. It is programmed to erase blank pages only in Multipage/Batch Mode. This behavior is by design and meets the intended functionality of the software.
