ApplicationXtender Web Access - Error returned when rendering while opening a document. Failed to create rendering component. 80040154 Class not registered

Summary

In ApplicationXtender Web Access, using Rendering Server, while opening a document, an Error is returned when rendering. Failed to create rendering componnet. 80040154 Class not registered

 

Resolution

Open Component Services from Control Panel > Administraive Tools. Expand Computers > My Computer > COM+ Applications > Web Access Image File Convertor > Components. If it is blank, the XtenderSolutions.RenderingServer.ConvertImg.1 module is missing.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Uninstall Rendering Server software form Contraol Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall a program.

  2. Browse to the installation path in Windows file explorer (default path: C:\Program Files\XtenderSolutions\Content Management\) and delete the Render Server folder and it's contents if it still exists.

  3. Reboot the server.

  4. After the reboot, be sure to login as the AppXtender service account. Install the Rendering Server software by running the Setup.exe as an Adminsitrator.

  5. After installtion is complete, run Component Registration Wizard for Rendering Server, and patch the software accordingly.
    If the COM+ component is still not installed, please contact Customer Support by Creating a Ticket via My Support, making reference to this Knowledge Base Article.

 

Cause

It is discovered that the Web Access Image Converter component of the COM+ module is not installed or missing.
The Web Access Foreign File Convertor may also be missing. This can happen during the installation of the upgraded software package of the Rendering Server.
If after uninstalling the previous version of the software, there are orphaned program files in the installation path (C:\Program Files\XtenderSolutions\Content Management\Render Server) the new updated installation files may not install or register.
CLSID {67111AFD-1940-4E36-BB88-D75BDD1D6D05} is related to the XtenderSolutions.RenderingServer.ConvertImg.1 module of the Web Access Image Convertor.
