Index field relationships allow for users to search for documents with conditional fields. For example if we had a field “Last Name” we could associate it with a field “First Name” since there would be a select number of first names associated with a select number of last names.

When dealing with index fields administrative access is necessary.

After logging into ImageSilo, click on your name in the top right and choose “Administration”

Expand projects and select the project that you want to create index field relationships in.

The indexes should appear and we want to select index field relationships at the top.

That should pull up the Project Index Field Relationships window.

We have to start by adding field names from our project by clicking add.

For our example I will be adding the fields “Last Name” and “First Name”

When clicking add another window will pop up letting you add the field you want to.

Select the field and press “Save”

Press “Save” again

The click back to Index Field Relationships and click on the “Data” tab

Once again we’re going to click “Add” and we’ll get a pop up.

Now I want to add the last name Smith as field data and press “Save”

Back on the “Data” tab screen we want to make sure we have Smith selected and click “Add”

That should put us in a “Add New Child” window and I want to add the field data “John”

I was thinking of adding a whole family so I’ve added “Judith” and “Justin” under Smith.

The way this works is that if “Smith” is entered into the “Last Name” field when searching for a document then a drop down menu on the “First Name” field will allow you to select John, Judith, or Justin.

But when I enter “Jackson” into the “Last Name” field the “First Name” field drop down shows no data.

This allows the user to search of specific indexes with relations between them which could provide a quicker and easier time when looking up documents.
