Summary

Kofax Capture services will not start automatically

...

Wrong configuration

Answer/Solution

  1. Check to make sure that the account used to run the service has proper permissions.

  2. Disable (uncheck) the Check for publisher's certificate revocation and Check for server certificate revocation options in Internet Explorer by going to Tools ¦ Internet Options ¦ Advanced tab.

  3. Verify whether User Profiles are enabled in the Administration Module.  If User profiles are enabled and the service is running under the Local System account, check the event viewer and verify if the App Logs reveal the following message:
Kofax Capture could not log you on. Please make sure that your user ID and password are Correct. Letters in passwords must be typed using correct case. Make sure that Caps Lock is not accidentally on

This error message is an indication that the capture service is conflicting with the User Profiles account crendentials.

If User Profiles are required to run the Kofax Service:

  1. Uninstall the services

  2. Reinstall the services using the User Profile credentials by applying the following commands in an elevated command prompt: C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin>xxx.exe -install -u:"UserID" -p:"Password"C:\Program Files (x86)\Kofax\Capture\Bin>xxx.exe -install -u:"UserID" -p:"Password"

  3. Start the services.
